Board of Directors

The Board of Directors is responsible for the long term policy and direction of Wah Mei, working with the Executive Director. The Board is composed of current and former parents as well as community members. Each member has a long term commitment to the organization’s success. Every effort is made to see that the Board represents a broad cross section of our community.

  • Gabi Wu

    Gabi Wu

    President

    Gabi is a dedicated professional with a strong background in construction and real estate development, as well as an experienced and licensed realtor. She is an active member of the San Francisco, California, and National Associations of Realtors. Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin, she is deeply connected to the community and passionate about bilingual education. With two children who graduated from Wah Mei School, Gabi has been actively involved in various committees, co-chairing the 43rd and 44th galas at Wah Mei School, as well as the 10th anniversary gala at Chinese Immersion School at DeAvila. She also serves as a board member at Alice Fong Yu Alternative School, advisory board member for SCCD, continuing to support youth, families, and the community. Gabi brings a unique ability to connect with and serve in a welcome community.

    Vice President

    Kelvin Wu joined the Wah Mei School Board in 2018 and is currently the vice president, passionate about promoting quality and culturally competent bilingual education. Mr. Wu is a first-generation immigrant from Macau, China. He speaks native Cantonese and Mandarin. Kelvin graduated from Sun Yat-Sen University Law School and the University of San Francisco School of Law and subsequently joined the City Government as the Mayor's Community Liaison. In 2019, Kelvin joined the San Francisco Sheriff's Office as Director of Community Engagement. As the Director, Kelvin is responsible for establishing, developing, and managing the Sheriff's Community Engagement Team. This Team aims to build trust, communication, and transparency between the Sheriff's Office and the people we serve through community events, Community-Based Organization meetings, public safety forums, outreach, etc.

    Kelvin is married with two children. In his spare time, Wu enjoys coaching and playing basketball, traveling with family, and capturing all the unforgettable moments with his photography skills.

    Born and raised in San Francisco, Alice started her schooling at Wah Mei School at 3 years of age with her favorite teacher Ms. Lee. Her siblings and children also attended Wah Mei with Ms. Lee. She went through SFUSD schools attending Jefferson, Hoover, and then Lincoln. Alice has previously taught at San Francisco State University, worked as a Program Manager in the Sunset. She also worked for SFUSD overseeing compliance in the City’s After School Programs. She currently serves on the Board of Directors at Wah Mei School and works as the Director of Elementary Programs at The Richmond Neighborhood Center. Alice holds an MA in Asian American Studies with a focus on Literature. She is fluent in Cantonese and feels very strongly about cultural and language preservation.

    Tina Cheung

    Treasurer

    Tina Cheung is a first-generation college graduate and professional from the San Francisco Bay Area. She has worked at the intersection of community development, affordable housing, social impact, and technology. As a Global Program Manager in Talent Acquisition at Visa, she leads initiatives to attract diverse talent and create pathways for marginalized individuals. Tina also serves as the Co-Lead of Visa Asians Standing Together Employee Resource Group’s Bay Area Chapter and North America Community Engagement Lead, driving community engagement, business impact, and professional development for the Asian and Asian American community. Before joining Visa, Tina managed projects for Twitter’s global business resource groups, driving programs for 80+ partner companies at AnitaB.org. As a former community organizer, her dedication to low-income communities and resources reflects her passion and commitment to creating a safe workplace and world.

  • Christina Wong Singh

    Christina Wong Singh

    Christina is a transformative go-to-market executive with a strong track record in leading teams at high-growth companies like Split.io, UserTesting, and AKQA. As a second generation Chinese American and mother of bi-racial children it was important to Christina that her children were rooted in their cultural values and language; WMS was a perfect preschool fit to support those learning aspects. In 2020, Christina took on a board role at WMS, blending her professional expertise, motherhood journey, and personal experiences into the role.

  • Kristopher Ho

    Kristopher is a San Francisco native and dedicated financial advisor committed to uplifting the AAPI community. A proud former Wah Mei student, he returned in 2025 as a Board Member to give back to the organization that helped shape his early years. Since beginning his career in wealth management in 2017, he has advanced to his current role as Vice President, where he leads a team and supports clients in achieving financial stability and growth. With a background that includes experience in both advisory roles and community‑focused work, Kris brings a balanced perspective rooted in service, coaching, and long‑term partnership. Fluent in Cantonese, Kris is passionate about expanding financial education and access within the AAPI community, with a special focus on empowering families through culturally informed financial guidance. During his free time, he enjoys traveling to various countries and learning about their local cultures.

  • Maelig Morvan

    Maelig is a bilingual educator and Ph.D. scientist with over two decades of experience in biomedical research in academia (University of Nantes, UCSF) and biotech (Senti Biosciences, Maro Bio). He is currently teaching biology at the International School of San Francisco and advising biotech startups. A committed member of the San Francisco educational landscape, Maelig has a long history of service to Wah Mei, including roles as Board President, Vice-President, and Secretary between 2014 and 2023, and to other local community-based organizations. He also previously served on city commissions (Bicycle Advisory Committee, Expenditure Plan Advisory Committee). His extensive background in strategic planning and cross-functional collaboration is complemented by a passion for youth mentorship, exemplified by his experience as a licensed youth soccer coach. Maelig is excited to be back on Wah Mei's board and looks forward to fostering community strength. Maelig's two children are both Wah Mei alumni.
